Kevin McCloud and his long-running renovation series Grand Designs are making waves this week following a clutch of recent developments. An Edinburgh couple is currently residing in a caravan while their ambitious Grand Designs build takes shape, and one Grand Designs subject hit trouble after a driving test centre was demolished to make way for a family home.

McCloud also spoke to The Times about his personal life off the camera, revealing he once owned a Land Rover that ran on chip fat. The show continues to generate buzz in Australia and the UK for the ambition behind its builds and the real-life drama that follows them.
